The Solent Mitigation Partnership offers a unique administration process backed by 16 Local Planning Authorities.

This approach has enabled us to provide one of the lowest administration fees on the market. Additionally, our nutrient credit reservation service means we can support developers through their planning application before making a long-term investment to secure mitigation.

We provide a credit reservation service to accommodate the varying requirements of Local Planning Authorities (LPAs). While some LPAs require nutrient mitigation to be secured prior to granting planning permission, others stipulate that it must be in place as a condition of discharge. Our flexible approach ensures developers can meet their LPA expectations with confidence.

Funds generated through the purchase of nutrient credits are reinvested in new mitigation schemes, supporting sustainable development across the Solent region.

Purchase

Nutrient credits can be purchased to fulfil nutrient mitigation requirements once planning permission is granted.

  • Nitrogen Credit: £3,250
  • Phosphorus Credit: £50,000
  • Administration Fee: £750

One nutrient credit equates to 1 kg of total nitrogen (kg/TN) or 1 kg of total phosphorus (kg/TP). Unlike some providers, our credits are sold in fractional units to suit the needs of your development.

Please note: VAT applies to all purchases.

Once payment is received, a Credit Sales Certificate will be issued to confirm that nutrient credits have been purchased for your development. This certificate serves as formal evidence that appropriate nutrient mitigation has been secured and should be submitted to your local planning authority as part of the planning process.

Reserve

Reserving credits secures them for a development while planning permission is being sought.

  • Reservation Fee: £750 +VAT
  • Reservation Period: 4 months

Once payment is received, a Credit Reservation Letter will be issued to confirm that nutrient credits have been reserved for your development. This letter can be submitted to the local planning authority as evidence that appropriate nutrient mitigation has been secured.

If planning permission is granted during the reservation period, the credits can be purchased. If planning permission is refused, the reservation will lapse with no further obligation.

If a decision has not been made by the end of the reservation period, credits can be re-reserved for an additional four months at a cost of £750 +VAT.
