SCP Conference

On Thursday 18th of September, the Solent Mitigation Partnership kicked off the South Coast CPS pre-conference event series at Fareham Innovation Centre. The event brought together key stakeholders to explore how early engagement and collaborative planning are accelerating investment, growth and delivering nature-positive outcomes across the Solent region.

Attendees heard from Rachel Jones (Solent Mitigation Partnership Manager), Debbie Tan MBE (CEO, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust), Steven Farndell (Head of Asset Management, Fareham Borough Council) and representatives from Eaton, who are currently developing a new premises at Daedalus. Together, they shared real-world examples of how strategic partnerships are unlocking environmental and economic value. The event highlighted the importance of aligning planning processes with ecological priorities to ensure long-term sustainability.

The networking lunch provided a valuable opportunity for participants to share their experiences with nutrient mitigation, exchange ideas and gain fresh insights into best practices and emerging approaches.

The Solent Mitigation Partnership continues to work strategically with partners like the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust to deliver high-integrity projects. Revenue generated from nutrient credit sales is reinvested into future schemes to support sustainable growth and, ultimately, to restore and protect the Solent’s waterways.

Looking ahead, the South Coast CPS Conference will take place at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton, on Thursday 13th of November with CPD sessions, networking events and roundtable discussions.
